Adobe Flash - previously called Shockwave
Flash and Macromedia Flash - is a set of
multimedia technologies
developed and distributed by Adobe
Systems and earlier by Macromedia.
Since its introduction in 1996, Flash technology has become a popular
method for adding animation and interactivity to
web pages; Flash is commonly used to create animation, advertisements,
various web page components, to integrate video into web pages, and
more recently, to develop rich
Internet applications.
Flash can manipulate vector and raster graphics
and supports bi-directional streaming of audio and video. It contains
a scripting language called ActionScript. It is available in most common
web browsers and some mobile phones and other electronic devices (using
Flash Lite). Several software products, systems, and devices are able
to create or display Flash, including the Adobe Flash Player. The Adobe
Flash Professional multimedia authoring program used to create content
for the Adobe Engagement Platform, such as web applications, games
and movies, and content for mobile phones and other embedded devices.
Files in the SWF format, traditionally called "Flash movies" or "Flash
games", usually have a .swf file extension and may be an object
of a web page, strictly "played" in a standalone Flash Player,
or incorporated into a Projector, a self-executing Flash movie (with
the .exe extension in Microsoft Windows). Flash Video (FLV) files have
a .flv file extension and are used from within .swf files.

JoeLakatos.com is
currently being developed everyday. I have had a hard time creating my
website. I do not know if other web designers have had the same type
of experience but I have no problem speaking to a client and creating
a website from scratch, however, when it comes to me and what I want,
well that's another story. It's not that I am a perfectionist, ok...
well maybe I am just a bit but the real deal is that I have these visions
in my head as to what I want and it never comes out as cool as I see
it in my head. That is just execution and not perfection at this point.
Another
reason for the difficulty level is that I have a lot of experience and
a lot of samples from both my graphic design and web design jobs and
trying to create pages and categories that encompass each job sample
is not as easy as it may appear. I come from the generation when the
term "online portfolio" didn't exist. I actually have a 2'x3'
plastic/vinyl portfolio in my closet that has a lot of my graphic design
samples. How the times have changed since 1993 when I graduated from
college. This is beginning to sound more like a blog than a simple warning
and explaination. With that said, keep in mind that if you find a broken
link or a missing page, do not worry, I will eventually get to it...
