Web Graphics & Optimization Services
EVERY WEBSITE NEEDS SOME SORT OF GRAPHIC ELEMENT
Animated or static? Color or black and white? These are two very important questions to consider when developing, creating, and designing a website.
Whether you are looking to create custom web images for your website or you are looking to enhance your current images, I have the knowledge and experience you are looking for in a web/graphic designer. You name it and I probably have experience doing it. Animated flash banners? Yes, done it. Animated gifs? Yes, done it. Static banners? Done it. Web logos? Yes, done it. Static web images? Optimized many times over. Slices? Yes, done it. Gallery thumbnails and enlarged images? Yes.
Ok, I think you get the picture. I have experience and that is why I can give you exactly what you are looking for. Just tell me what you need and I give it to you. It's really just that simple. I have read many articles on the importance of optimizing web images. Why is it so important? Well, not everyone has a high spped connection and can pull hundreds of kilobytes of information at a time. Time is the factor. The larger the file sizes of the images that are within the html web page, the larger the html file size becomes and the longer it takes to download and process, which in English means that the viewer is waiting and waiting and waiting for a web page to load up on their screen due to the fact that the html page has a file size that is huge.
The actual definition of huge has many variables, although I can tell you this: The average web browser will wait 7 or 8 seconds for a web page to load before they click of off that slow loading web page and move on to another faster loading web page. 8 seconds is all it takes to lose a customer. This is why a web page should be no more than 50 kilobytes in size. Anything over 50 kb is risking loading slow and losing a viewer. Now, one variable is that a lot of people have high speed internet connections and can load an html web page in 1 to 3 seconds. Another variable is the number of web images on the html web page and what kind of images they are.
Images can be jpg (or jpeg), gif, swf, or png. Jpg (or Jpeg) is a commonly used method of compression for photographic images. The name JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group, the name of the committee that created the standard and is used mostly when dealing with photographs or images that contain a lot of colors.
Gif or Graphics Interchange Format is an 8-bit-per-pixel bitmap image format that was introduced by CompuServe in 1987 and has since come into widespread usage on the World Wide Web due to its wide support and portability. The format uses a palette of up to 256 distinct colors from the 24-bit RGB color space. It also supports animations and allows a separate palette of 256 colors for each frame. The color limitation makes the GIF format unsuitable for reproducing color photographs and other images with continuous color, but it is well-suited for more simple images such as graphics or logos with solid areas of color.
Swf is commonly used to create animation, advertisements, various web page components in Adobe Flash (previously Macromedia), to integrate video into web pages, and more recently, to develop rich Internet applications. Files in the SWF format, traditionally called "Flash movies" or "Flash games", usually have a .swf file extension and may be an object of a web page, strictly "played" in a standalone Flash Player, incorporated into a Projector, or a self-executing Flash movie.
PNG or Portable Network Graphics is a bitmap image format that employs lossless data compression. PNG was created to improve upon and replace the GIF format, as an image-file format not requiring a patent license. PNG supports palette-based (palettes of 24-bit RGB colors), greyscale or RGB images. PNG was designed for transferring images on the Internet, not professional graphics, and so does not support other color spaces (such as CMYK).
